Post 1,001+1’s other tidbits

Welcome to post 1,001+1!

Well, its easy to say at this point that the NanoWriMo project is dead, at least for the month of November. In my limited experience, successful writing projects have always held a sense of wonder and excitement about them while they were under development. This project had neither for me, and quickly took on the mantle of an assignment, like a paper on the differences in Achaean pottery. Meanwhile, the short story that daintily strolled in is going well, if slow. In this case, slow seems to be a good thing, as I still feel that excitement at learning how the story will get to its end point, but don’t feel the rush to get it over. However, at the start of November, I did promise a beard, and I believe I have delivered:

I hope to wrap up this story in the next few days, but of course that will depend on real life interferences staying at a minimum, which I doubt will happen.

One “distraction” that sure to bring some immediate downtime, even if the long term outcome will be great, is that I will be moving my desk from the family room up to the front room, where we plan on setting my desk and the girl’s computer (Kim has this mobile artist center she’s constructed that is pure vagabond and requires no center of operations). I’m a bit excited about the prospect, since it means I will have an almost secluded work space. The downside of course is that despite the chaos, I’ve gotten a bit used to sharing my space with the family, and their absence is a bit sad.

Aw, who am I kidding, Daddy’s getting a(n) (shared) office space 🙂 And in case you were wondering, rearranging is what we call seasonal cleaning around here, namely because in the process of moving everything we uncover the treats and surprises that our progeny left as secret rewards.

As books and furniture are moved today, I will begin making the selection of books for the give away. Guaranteed that most of them will be books I was sent for review but either didn’t or couldn’t review, or received multiple copies of. Stay tuned!

  1. Looks like I got my datanode commenting priviledges back, sweet 🙂

I think we need a picture of your new office space when it’s ready!

  2. Fair enough – should be wrapped up tomorrow (turns out rearranging 1/2 a house can be tiring). I’ll post a picture later on 🙂
