Reading. Just reading.

A reading update that isn’t an actual book review. Scandalous, I realize. I just want to say if you enjoy the same kind of fantasy I do (and you know if you do based on my goodreads feed, right?), I am really enjoying Saladin Ahmed‘s Throne of the Crescent Moon (AMZ). I’m about half way through the book, and its everything I’d hoped it to be. Not perfect, mind you, but everything I’d hoped it to be šŸ™‚

Which actually brings up an interesting point. I’ve noticed lately that my reading tastes tend to lean more towards the fantastic rather than science fiction. I think there’s a rationale for it (the indulgence in pure fantasy, devoid of ties to the real world, versus speculativeĀ interpretationsĀ on how mankind will screw itself up in the next few centuries. Too deep?). Anywho, an interesting observation. I still love watching sci-fi, though technically most of it is just fantasy with cool tech (Star Wars, for example, is obviously just the average hero quest with lasers and star ships thrown on top).
