Live, from Huntsville!

Ah, the day after Thanksgiving. Just a quick post – tomorrow being the return drive to Virginia and yesterday being the gut busting festivity of the year. Just a quick note to say the Cummings girls have proven to their grandparents in Alabama just what a handful – and joy – they can be. I think every laugh and smile they’ve evoked in the last day they’ve added another grey hair to grandma’s head. Granted, I think this is a learning experience for grandma – it was for me (only child of an only child and all that). Life with three kids, especially three under the age of seven, is never shy of action and adventure. Dad (Pa-Pa) is handling it much better, but he’s one of four kids and so was prepared for the chaos a little better I think. All in all I think its worked out great, and my folks have definitely gotten a chance to spend some quality time with the grandkids, which was really the whole point to the 700 mile drive. That and grandma’s pumpkin cake.

Today we have adventures planned out of the house – a Children’t museum, lunch, some other activities, and closing the day out with a night drive through a festival of lights type thing. Of course, this being Huntsville, home of the space race, it’s a Galaxy of Lights.

And then bright and early tomorrow morning its back on the road for the 13 hour drive home. I’m not quite sure how I’m going to reach 50k words by end of day Sunday. I know better than to think I can beg it off of Kim – she’s going to be torn between catching up on her shop and unwinding from being super Mom at my folks house. We’ll see. Somehow, it’ll all work out, it always does.
