Dear Script Kiddies

Dearest Script Kiddies,

I have gone ahead and ended the ssh honeypie you’ve tried to hit for the last week or so. Word to the wise: as a general rule, folks smart enough to both run ssh and open it up outside their network do not have userid conventions like “abby,” “tasha,” and “superman” (though I like that one :). You have taught me to avoid php, since apparently there is some php app out there that has OS accounts with “php” in the name. You’ve also taught me to avoid a prebuilt zope box (sorry Dan)(H), because there were a number of zope based account names tried. One or two of you actually tried valid *NIX accounts, which I appreciated – at least it appeared you gave it some effort and forethought before tripping my sensors. But as I end this test and block off the honeypot again, I promise to write you all Christmas cards this year – I have your addresses on file, thanks for sending them in 4-part octet harmony!
