The editing has begun

Its true, I haven’t written much since I hit the 60k mark, but there’s a reason for that. I know the end of the story, and I can see (in my head) how to bridge from where I left off to that ending, but I’m distracted by the mess I made of this novel. I started writing it before my stay in the hospital, and then I let it sit for a good four or five months while I waffled on other projects (and not). There’s a lot of discord from the first 20k or so and the rest of the book, and even in the recent stuff there are some noticeable gaps and changes of heart.

So for the sake of sanity (mine), I’ve decided to go ahead and edit the first draft and try and bring it into a cohesive whole, especially now that I know what the story is. Pandora is primed with some Shiva In Exile, I have a stash of red pens, and a hard copy of the novel. And yes, my next novel will be outlines ahead of time, with as much planned as possible so there isn’t this painful period of complete rewriting. I guess old habits are just hard to break? I think this is how I wrote just about every paper in college and before that. Bah!
