I used to have comments enabled and wide open. Then I started getting spam, so I closed them off.
People complained.
So I opened comments back up, but I limited it to registered users. And now no one comments except for the spammers (who thankfully queue up). So I think I’m going to close comments off. Most folks that have comments either twitter or facepalm me anyway.
If I ever become wildly popular again (oh, those were the days) I’ll re-enable them. [HINT: help me be wildly popular and I’ll re-enable comments!]
Oh noes! Now we’ll have to do real small-talk in person 😉
See, I knew I could count on folks to leave comments if I goaded them into it!! (Actually, I’m trying to figure out – three full version numbers of wordpress later – how to disable comments). Thanks G$!!
I have one where anyone can comment, but I get to moderate all comments. That way, no one sees the hate mail.
akismet does an awesome job of weeding out the spam (not enough readership to garner the hate mail, not yet). bah. most of my friends (including you ;)) comment on facebook anyway 🙂
