Writing update from the inlaws

So just a quick update. We’re visiting with Kim’s folks for a mock Mother’s Day. My mother in law had knee surgery last week, at the end of which the nurse accidently broke her wrist helping her out of bed to leave the hospital.

Dickens had nothing on the weird chain of events that composes our lives.

So, weekly writing update time. Still waiting to hear back on DLR, but it’s early yet. I finally finished revising Button Pusher, and since Asimov’s is now doing digital submissions, I sent it in. I don’t hold much hope, but I’ve been surprised before. I’d hoped to have finished the new Captain story by now, but it’s taking longer than I’d expected to wrap it up. I’m close to being done with the first draft (just one more scene left to write), and I already know some things that need to be worked into the story. Oddly enough, a lot of it has been written using writeroom on the iPhone, which I should blog about some other time.

A little writing on DP this week, which felt good too.

And that’s a wrap for the last week. Definitely hope to finish that draft this week and get back to the novel, but I have a few more short stories waiting to be let loose.
