Conehead

Its been another week on the edge at Chez Cummings. Ignoring some of the minor traumas of life with three girls under the age of 8, we’ve had a real bang up week.
It started on Tuesday, when we noticed a spot under Zoe’s right eye that looked a little funny. In the last year our old puppy has had problems with cysts, but this one seemed to be growing faster than normal. So while I took Katy to the dentist on Wednesday to have three teeth pulled (ZOMG! they had roots that were longer than the actual teeth!), Kim took Zoe to the vet.
As I’m sure you can guess, this is going somewhere less than pleasant. The spot was not a regular cyst, but a tumor. She had surgery on Friday to have it removed, and its off for testing now. But then late last night, a blood clot that had formed under her eye broke, sending Kim and I into a panic. A visit to the emergency vet later we’re relieved to know that although horrifically bloody, Zoe is actually ok and the sutures are all still intact.
So here it is, Saturday, with 13 days of life with a Zoe conehead left. The good news is that so far neither the tumor nor the spot on her chest appears to be malignant. And Zoe is happy – droopy eyed, but happy, and that speaks volumes to us.
