An egg-cellent morning to you, too!

Good Saturday morning! It’s actually a glorious morning here in Chez Cummings – the sun is out, the sky is clear, the temperature is mercifully nice and low after a week or two of improbably warm days for April.

I had other things to talk about this morning, and maybe they will make it to other posts, but first and foremost and at the front of every conversation in the house for the last 24 hours – our Youngest took her Egg Challenge yesterday. For those not in the know, she has a myriad of food allergies, including a lethal reaction to all seafood and poultry, and a medium to strong reaction to all nuts.

Eggs? No more a threat! The results came back pretty conclusive yesterday – she is free to have eggs in her diet again.

If you’ve never tried to live your life by checking the ingredients of every single package to ensure they don’t have traces of one of a half-dozen different allergens, you just don’t know what fun living is. Or turning down every sample, every birthday party treat, because “it isn’t safe.” Getting eggs back is a great thing for us, and happily she came home ready to try eggs in every single variety she could get them in – boiled, scrambled, fried, and as an ingredient – Miracle Whip to pancakes, she wants to try it all. So where does a six-year-old girl who’s never been allowed to have eggs or their byproducts declare she wants to go for dinner? IHOP of course!

Of course, a squall line that ripped roofs off of houses and downed trees all along the country tore through the area while we were wrapping up dinner, marring an otherwise perfect day with a powerless (but wholly intact!) house.

Happy Saturday Morning to you all, folks!
