Letters on writing over at brainpickings

Nobody ever became a writer just by wanting to be one.

F. Scott Fitzgerald

An interesting read of some of the letters of F. Scoot Fitzgerald over at brainpickings. Also offered is the writing advice of H.P. Lovecraft and Virginia Woolf. I’m not sure how the folks at brainpickings make their selections (I’m a relatively fresh reader to the site), but each of these offerings was pretty interesting, especially in the universality of their advice. But it is Vonnegut that brings it home for me:

Did you ever admire an empty-headed writer for his or her mastery of the language? No.
