23 in 13 Challenge

Frame 352 from the film, alleged to depict a f...Last year, Matt Forbeck gave us the 12 for 12 challenge, where that crazy guy set out and wrote 12 books in 12 months. Crazy, insane, and more than a little daunting, but he did it, and by all accounts, he did it with aplomb.

And then John Anealo comes along and makes us all feel even worse in 2013.

If you’re not familiar with his work, John is a comical song writer and performer of the geeky sort. His songs tend to answer those deep seated questions that plague us late at night – is a Sasquatch kosher? He’s put a meme to music (“George R.R. Martin is not your bitch”), and written the theme song of many an aspiring author (“I should be writing.”)

John has upped Forbeck’s ante with his 23 in 13 challenge. The goal is simple – create 23 new things in 2013, whether they be stories, novels, photos, or any combination thereof. The point is to have 23 new creative endeavors in 2013.

I have already declared in this blog that this is the year of doing, not trying, so I answer the challenge in the only way humility will allow me to:

Challenge accepted.

(BTW, I don’t believe Matt Forbeck at all entered into the creation of John’s challenge. I could be wrong, but I have no real information or knowledge that one challenge beget the other.)(Plus, how often do you get a chance to say “beget” in day to day blogging?)
