Not a lot of time to waste with pleasantries this morning, so off we go.
- Looks like that pesky writer's strike might be over. Kind of a shame, to be honest. Once I got over my fear of losing Chuck and maybe Heroes (ok, more Chuck than anything else. Heroes kinda lost it for me this last season, but nothing says funny like a SandWorm), I found myself actually embracing NON TV LIFE. Yeah, I know, crazy, huh? Sure, at first myth was recording all kinds of junk for me to fill the void, but after trying to watch some of it, I realized there were better things to do. In a lot of ways the writer's strike let me liberate a little, so I'm actually a bit sorry to see it coming to an end.
- Takes an article on Guitar Rising for me to realize Guitar Hero doesn't do what I thought it did - help you learn how to play. I think if I ever went the direction of learning how to play, this is how I'd do it.
- This was just a good laugh this morning - The 6 Cutest Animals That Can Still Destroy You. Boils down to why and how cute each animal is - and why you shouldn't even pause before running the other way. Pretty funny stuff.
- Interestingly, I came across two articles about the Large Hadron Collider this morning. The first one here makes a case of burning it down to the ground now and salting the earth, as the LHC poses the risk of creating mini-blackholes that can consume the earth. The second takes a, shall we say, lighter approach, considering the studies of dark matter, wormholes, and time travelers as possible benefits. Yeah, it's Friday, but it's one of those Fridays.
- From io9 this morning, I share with you Phoo Action, your basic Buddhist kung-fu cop show with crazy costumes and cartoon like action (there's a little clip that highlights this). Actually, yes, the show appeals, don't ask why.
- Also on io9, a fun little article highlights the 9 best time travelling devices, including here for no other reason than there is a pic of the Omni from Voyagers! (children of the 80's, unite!!)
- Back over at Universe Today, a few
cranksscientists are concerned that the recent Universe Day signal could be revealing too much information about our little blue orb if the bad aliens are really out there (and looking to attack a polluted biohazard with their improbablity drive based fleet of warships). Maybe they're right, but even so, I hard doubt one radio signal is going to make too much of a difference after nearly a century of blasting everything we've got at the cosmos. - And finally today, I offer you LifeHacker's The Nerd Handbook for your weekend reading. Despite the title, this is not a book for nerd's to read, but instead for us to print and disseminate to our loved ones so that they better understand how to deal with us. Eh, it's a light note to end the week on
I'll try and keep this going this weekend, but if not, enjoy and relax!

As a regular reader of Universe Today I have to say that today’s issue was by far the most amusing one.
Black holes and warmholes being created in labs?
Alien invasions?
Here I have to add that, apart from the random ‘amusing’ articles Universe Today is quite a good source of information regarding Space.

I agree – the quirkiness today just caught my fancy
That and I’m trying to justify my time spent reading RSS feeds in the morning, so any opportunity to tie together random feeds seemed like a good idea at 5 in the morning.
